The registered office is recorded as the legal address for your business. It is not necessarily the same address as the company’s actual trading address.
Many businesses choose to keep a separate registered address to their physical location. Often, they choose to use their accountant’s address in order that all official correspondence from Companies House and other formal organisations is seen and dealt with by the accountants.
The registered office address is the one always used by Companies House (the UK registrar) and HM Revenue and Customs (the UK tax authority).
